Heritage Society Raises First $1 Million Towards $10 Million Goal!

first million

The Keystone Foundation’s Heritage Society was launched in late 2016 with a goal of raising $10 million to benefit Search and Glenkirk. The goal of the fund is to provide direct financial aid for housing, vocational training, employment, and healthcare services for people with disabilities. The Heritage Society will be a source of permanent financial stability for Search and Glenkirk to thrive and grow well into the future.

After just one year, we are thrilled to announce that the fund has surpassed $1 million towards the $10 million goal! Additionally, we are excited to share that Chicago based CPA firm Pier & Associates became the first business to support the fund with a $25,000 commitment. Mary Lou Pier, President and Founder of Pier & Associates, has a niece in Search’s residential program and knows firsthand the critical importance of long term support for nonprofits.

“At Pier & Associates, we strive to keep community and people as an important part of our lives. Our owners and employees continually remark at how lucky we are and have been throughout our lives and careers. Inevitably, lucky people like to pay that forward. That is what we want to do as a business,” stated Mary Lou. “Some can give cash, some can give time and some can give ideas. We hope all can contribute to the Heritage Society. We hope other businesses feel the same and understand their employees feel the same. Encouraging that pay it forward feeling keeps employees engaged and feeling a purpose beyond their role in the business. It also provides team building and a pride in the company they work for.”

Gifts totaling $5,000 or more qualify for the Heritage Society and can be directed to either Search or Glenkirk. The gift can be made as one-time donation, annually, quarterly, monthly, or cover a specified time period (at donors discretion). Members of the Heritage Society have access to a number of exclusive benefits.

Major Gift from the Nadolna Family Launches Heritage Society

nadolna

We are thrilled to announce that Alan Nadolna, Chair of the Board of Directors, and his wife, Suzanne Averill, member of the Board of Directors, have made a major gift in support of the Heritage Society. Alan and Suzanne have been affiliated with Search for more than 25 years and their leadership on the Board is greatly respected and appreciated. They both have a deep affection and knowledge of Search's work, the people who provide our services, and those being served.

Alan and Suzanne value and recognize the impact of private philanthropy, which inspired them to make a $300,000 gift of life insurance to the newly created Heritage Society. The Heritage Society is comprised of professional and philanthropic leaders who have contributed significant investments towards improving the lives of individuals with disabilities. The purpose of the Heritage Society is to create a fund that is a source of permanent financial stability for the organization. Gifts totaling $5,000 or more qualify and can be made as a one-time donation, annually, quarterly, monthly, or cover a specified time period (at donors discretion). Members of the Heritage Society have access to a number of exclusive benefits.

This leadership gift from Alan and Suzanne is a monumental expression of their ongoing commitment to Search. They hope to encourage others to help assure Search's ability to weather difficult financial times.

We thank Alan and Suzanne for their generous support and invite you to join them as a member of the Heritage Society. Your act of goodwill ensures that our mission of empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to participate fully in the community will live on for generations.
